One of Europe’s best chamber orchestras, for the last nearly two decades – Poland’s flagship ensemble. Its repertoire ranges from classical masterpieces to contemporary music. The orchestra has gained recognition with its interpretations of music by Polish composers. Such masters as Wojciech Kilar, Zbigniew Bujarski, Aleksander Lasoń, Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, Piotr Moss, and Cezary Duchnowski have entrusted AUKSO with the task of premiering their works. The ensemble has also scored successes with its recordings of film music by world-famous composers such as Elliot Goldenthal, as well as soundtracks for computer games. Crossover projects combining classical music with jazz, rock or alternative trends have become a trademark of the ensemble, which collaborates in these fields with such artists as Leszek Możdżer, Tomasz Stańko, as well as Aphex Twin and Jonny Greenwood. With the latter two musicians, they recorded an album for the American record company Nonesuch. AUKSO is a municipal institution of the City of Tychy, co-managed since June 2018 by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Polish Radio Channel Two is a unique round-the-clock Polish public media programme wholly dedicated to classical music, cultural news, folk, jazz, literature, radio drama and conversations about culture. There is no other Polish radio station comparable to PR 2. We boldly and openly debate important issues, follow the most recent trends and encourage reflection at the same time. PR 2 makes possible attentive listening to such music that otherwise gets lost in the omnipresent media noise: from contemporary jazz to folk, classical, the avant-garde and contemporary alternative trends. We broadcast concerts from Poland’s most interesting music festivals, present live broadcasts of operatic spectacles and music events from the world’s major music venues; we review and report upon the music life of London, Vienna, Berlin and St Petersburg. We read numerous books, introducing debuts and new publications; we hold competitions for radio dramas; we revive the classics of prose, poetry and drama. Our radio dramas star the greatest actors of all generations. We discuss and strive to understand the world. We respond to the ever more widespread longing for a listener-friendly kind of radio that treats every audience member with respect as a partner, does not enforce simplifications on the audience and does not attempt to trivialise difficult topics. Polish Radio Channel Two is a public institution of culture boasting the largest audience and the widest scope of influence.
